About the Role

We are looking for a qualified EHO to join our busy Environmental Health and Licensing service, to carry out and support the work of the Environmental Control Team across a range of functions, including statutory nuisance (noise, accumulations, animals, dust, smoke, odour and light), contaminated land, pest control, air quality monitoring, environmental permitting and climate change.

The role is supported by an Environmental Health Assistant and Principal EHO (Environmental Control).

You will be a qualified EHO registered with EHRB/ CIEH with experience in local authority environmental control work. An additional qualification in acoustics would be desirable. (Applications from Environmental Health degree graduates with some practical environmental health experience and who are working towards achieving CIEH Environmental Health Practitioner registration will be considered starting on a SH05 salary grade £ 33,872).

You will be enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated, with good organisational skills. You must be an excellent communicator and be confident in dealing with members of the public, businesses, elected Members and other agencies. You will need a proactive approach and be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision, but also be able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive public health outcomes.
