Surrey Heath Borough Council is looking to recruit a Senior Solicitor or Legal Executive to join the Legal Services team based in Camberley. The role is suitable for a commercial property solicitor or Legal Executive with over 4 years PQE.

Over the last six years, the Council has acquired a commercial property investment portfolio worth £124m in order to increase income to help maintain services and to further its regeneration plans for the borough, current focused on Camberley. The Council now owns a range of properties including two shopping centres, various industrial estates, business parks and office buildings as well as its operational buildings and other land.

The work will involve a wide range of non-contentious matters, which will principally include landlord and tenant work relating to the investment property portfolio, but will also include advising on proposed development sites, preparing unilateral undertakings and section 106 agreements and providing advice on property, planning and other Council matters. Support on planning matters can be provided for those applicants with a property focused background.

The Council is looking for a candidate who can progress asset management work with minimal supervision and has the confidence to tackle a variety of other matters. Applications from Solicitors or Legal Executives with a private practice background or from Solicitors or Legal Executives with local government knowledge and experience are welcomed.

This is a fantastic opportunity for career development within a supportive and collegiate in-house environment where the successful candidate will work under the supervision of one of the Principal Solicitors and under the overall guidance of the Head of Legal. A healthy work-life balance is encouraged and home working will be necessary. Applications for part time working will be considered. Flexible working arrangements include home working and full time remote working would be considered.

A generous benefits package includes a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave, Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking and flexible working hours.
